In his latest TEAMtalk column, Danny Mills discusses new-look Arsenal, Joe Cole's England chances, Joey Barton's QPR switch and Wayne Rooney.
With the transfer window shut and the international programme done for now, it's time to welcome the return of the Premier League.
Arsene Wenger will demand a reaction from his stunned Gunners after their 8-2 mauling at Old Trafford, and although there will be plenty of new faces in the Arsenal line-up, I reckon it could be a tough day for Swansea at The Emirates.
Fabio Capello's criticism of Liverpool striker Andy Carroll hogged the headlines - but I think it was a case of lost in translation to some extent, with his comments being exaggerated in the media.
Joe Cole has joined Lille on loan and has expressed his desire to play for England once again - but I've got a feeling he'll struggle to get back in favour with Capello, who seems to be turning to youth and the likes of Ashley Young, Stewart Downing and Tom Cleverley.
I think my old team-mate Joey Barton will be a smash hit for QPR. Yes he's had his issues off the pitch in the past - but they're behind him now and I think he'll be a fantastic signing for Neil Warnock's Premier League new boys.
Finally, I discuss Wayne Rooney's resurgence in form - and feel it's down to Manchester United's new signings, rather than his new barnet.
Will Gunners gel?
Arsenal's start has been appalling so there has to be a reaction when they face Swansea.
It's a slightly new team for Arsene Wenger, with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker coming in, and he has got to merge all those players together and make sure they understand what he wants.
Lots of them will have been away on international duty so he won't have had time to work with the team.
But I fear for Swansea. Blackpool went there early last season, and got absolutely thumped 6-0. Unfortunately for Swansea, it could be one of those days as they love to play football and play in the Arsenal way, if you like.
Arsenal, player for player, have far too much quality for that, so they have to be a little bit careful and can't play their usual game. They will have to be cautious; if not, it could Arsenal's first win of the season.
Fabio lost in translation
I think Fabio Capello's criticism of Andy Carroll snowballed a little bit.
Sometimes his understanding of the English language isn't as great as it should be - and I think it's a little bit of lost in translation.
He's possibly right - he has come and been honest, and maybe those comments have been exaggerated, but Andy Carroll has had one or two issues in the past and I'm sure they're behind him now.
But as Capello says, if you want to get to the top of the tree and be the best striker for your country, you have to live in a certain way - and I think that's all he meant.
But because of the language barrier, it's one of those comments that has just snowballed a little bit.
Cole's England goal
Joe has said he's keen to play for England again but I don't think it'll be easy for him to get back into the set-up. We've seen in the last couple of games that youth is coming in and Joe is nearer to 30 now, so that's never going to be easy for him to get back.
Obviously he's had some injury problems and his form has not been fantastic since his move to Liverpool. But undoubtedly he's a great player and certainly has something to offer - and that's why he has opted for Champions League football with Lille.
He'll always have his sights set high and an ambition to play for England again - but I think the new influx of youngsters, and even those that are on the bench like Tom Cleverley, means he'll find it difficult however well he plays.
Barton a driving force
Joey Barton will make his QPR debut against Newcastle on Monday night - and I always find it bizarre that whenever a player gets a move, his debut seems to be against the club they've just left.
Joey's a great player, he's another player with one or two issues in the past off the field - but I believe he has sorted most of those out.
I spent a long time with Joey at Manchester City and have spoken to him quite a lot since - and it's difficult, it's an ongoing battle for him.
Every day is not easy but he's doing his best and he's working hard - but on the field, when you can get Joey playing for you, he's a fantastic talent.
As a player he's a driving force - he'll score goals, he'll create goals, he'll get tackles in and he can run a midfield. I think it's a fantastic signing for QPR.
Resurgent Rooney
Wayne Rooney he looks a lot happier and looks to be playing with freedom - but the goals have helped as it's a huge confidence boost.
The new signings that have come into Manchester United have helped him massively. Ashley Young has been a fantastic partner for him, and he has this renewed energy. He looks sharp, he looks bright - and that's very ominous for the rest of the Premier League.
